Serving Area(s): Based out of Denver; we serve all areas via online shop

  • Describe your business in 3 sentences or less?

Our focus is to assist people to reconnect with the healing power of Mother Earth and connect with our roots. We create natural skin, personal care, and spiritual ritual products while offering business, skin and massage services.

Although we started out making products for our own pains, our business focus continues to grow as we continue to evolve so we’ve got a ton of new products, services, community opportunities and events that are going to completely shift our focus VERY soon!

  • What products or services do you offer?

Our main line of skin care products consists of a body & hair oil, body scrub and rubs for pain, muscular inflammation, migraines, insomnia, nerve damage, bug bites, crystals and herbal blends. Each of the services we offer is directly tied to our personal experience and life lessons.

We offer services like contract creation, organizational management, relocation planning, landscaping, HVAC, home maintenance & repairs, facials, acupressure, massage and event management. We’ve been discovering and practicing new talents, executing them as a unit and perfecting our processes so we’ll have lots of new and revised services coming to the site VERY soon!

  • Why are you in this type of business?

We’re in this business because this is a part of our soul mission and what we’re on this earth to do. From that shift, we found higher pieces of ourselves. In 2012 we discovered Rasta and started to shift to a more natural lifestyle. We had pain, migraines, bug bite allergies, insomnia, nerve damage and eczema between the both of us. We didn’t want to take medications anymore; we didn’t trust doctors and we truly believed that herbs and plants are the healing of the nation. We started realizing that we were meeting people with similar ailments and pains to ours and Zion Glory was birthed.

  • How did you get started in this business?

The skin care portion of our experience started in 2005 and has been evolving since. Cristina studied cosmetology, skin care, makeup and then became a certified Skin Therapist/Esthetician in 2009. When Daniel came into the picture in 2010 we started reconnecting and building. We’re twin flames! We developed our first start-up, Beauty for Pleasure Pampering Services, doing makeup, model training & development, and event management but we began to grow. At the time it looked like a lack of support and to a lot of people, we sounded crazy. It’s been our dream to support and work for ourselves, even then we knew that we could do it but fear was holding us back.

  • How long have you been in business?

We’ve been in business under Zion Glory Herbal Healing since 2013, 4 years. Before that, we ran the mobile beauty business from 2010 to 2012, 2 years. Overall we’ve been in business for 6 years.

  • What’s the best part of owning your own business? Worst challenge?

The best part of owning our own business is having the freedom to shift and grow in a way that supports our higher self. The worst challenge would be picking and choosing what we want to focus our energy toward. We both have so many talents and so many great ideas that sometimes it can be hard to say “Ok, we need to be realistic about our energy focus and make sure we’re not putting our self-care to the side to reach a goal.” Sometimes that means looking at a list of everything our heart is called to and determining what is most important at that point in our journey.

  • How did you get the background and skills necessary to run this type of business?

Cristina trained in cosmetology and Skin Care under one of the top Dermalogica instructors and graduated from Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA. Daniel gained his experience in HVAC and maintenance at LA Unified School District and here in Colorado working for property maintenance companies. Our families also have experience and home projects that have allowed us to learn how to build houses from the ground up, maintain properties and pretty much learn how to do anything that needs to be done yourself. Our background with herbs, plants, crystals, and energy has been through the diligent study of ancient texts, reiki masters, and our spiritual guides.

  • Who inspires your entrepreneurship?

Our experiences. We were taught to go after the “secure” jobs with a set income and retirement plans, etc. but those jobs didn’t nourish our spirits, they drained us. Even before we met, we both experienced the same obstacles, push back from management, suffocation of idea, false accusations, discrimination, retaliation, and harassment. And although there are resources in place for those types of work environments we ultimately realized that those jobs weren’t for us. We knew we had great ideas, passion and the capacity to run a business more efficiently than the organizations we’ve previously worked for.

  • How do you market your business?

We market primarily online through our social media accounts. For the past 4 years, we’ve been reaching out to, collaborating and supporting local business around Denver, Colorado. We also have a retail location in Denver at a house that we’ve also landscaped and helped to upgrade over the last year and a half called High Street Healing House and we’ve partnered with other local business for metaphysical events. Soon we’ll be expanding our reach to other states by co-coordinating events with other business owners!

  • Where do you see your business in the next year? In the next five years?

In the next year, we see ourselves on some property, living off the land and reviving our connection to Mother Earth and implementing that into our soul purpose. Our soul purpose is to reconnect with our roots. Within the next 5 years, we see us living and traveling between different plots of land in different countries where we have ancestry in. We’re going to build up community land for people who have a desire to connect with their roots, live off the land and support others on the same journey of self-discovery. The more and more we’re on this journey to our roots the more we see we all have ancestry from all over the world and part of the healing that needs to be done on a generational level is reconnecting with all of our roots, not just the ones that are most prominent by the way we look or are classified. It’s time that deep healing begins and our soul mission is to create a space for that healing to be facilitated, not only for us but for everyone else who feels that pull on their spirit.

  • What are the best tools that help your workflow?

We utilize a lot of the features that come with Microsoft Office, Gmail, Quickbooks, OneDrive, and Shopify. We occasionally use Wunderlist to keep track of all our projects and deadlines along with Gmail of course!

  • What mobile app or internet resources help your business the most?

Shopify definitely! It’s helped us integrate sharing to our social media accounts, gives us discounts on shipping rates and really helped us streamline our processes.

  • Do you have any mentors? Do you mentor?

We’ve both had a time in our journey where we felt we needed and identified with certain people as our mentors but we’ve discovered that Spirit is the best guide and we’ve been focusing our self-work and energy into becoming clear vessels for Spirit to communicate with. In the past, we’ve leaned on “mentors” to a fault and moved away from trusting Spirit and our guides. We don’t have a specific program for mentoring just yet although we are working on some services geared toward guiding and educating people in areas we’ve been perfecting.

  • Why do your customers select you over your competitors?

Energy. That’s the one constant topic of feedback we get from our customers. The energy can be felt in our packages, products and in person. Energy is something that doesn’t lie so when people tell us they can feel us, the love and pure vibrations that come through the products we know we’re doing what we’re called here to do.

  • What are the biggest issues running this business?

We feel like the biggest issues to running a business focused on natural remedies is competition, collaboration, and support. Natural remedies are a hot market right now and we’ve been reaching out to and attempting to collaborate with other businesses in the same field for years. We’ve yet to find other healers and businesses willing to collaborate with us on a business and community level. It’s an obstacle but no obstacle is impossible to overcome. As a result of this experience, we’ve been forced inward, as usual, to determine the root of the issue because issues always start with self.

  • How do you achieve balance in your life?

Self-care. For each of us, self-care consists of different things at different times so we keep each other in check. Over the last 7 years, we’ve learned each other's triggers, favorite tools and we get better and better at being proactive about our self-care and not waiting until we’re totally off balance and irritable to implement our tools. Some of our tools involve meditation, yoga, reiki, crystal healing, herbal teas and tonics, grounding to Mother Earth, cleansing with sacred baths and running water, hiking, exploring, target practice, comedy shows, full moon releasing and new moon ceremonies. We flow with Spirit. Some days we’ll have a ton of things to do and we just smoke, reason, play with our dogs and rest.

  • What advice would you give Artsies wanting to launch a business?

Don’t be afraid of collaborations. Unity is greatly underestimated yet everyone loves to quote “There is power in numbers”. That’s true but so many of us have similar business models that we see can be unified and made stronger, all these family and entrepreneur-owned companies don’t have to compete with massive corporations if we unify and collaborate. Not everyone is here to steal your idea, some people are just drawn to your light and who you are. Be open minded to other ways to execute what you want to do, be open to people who cross your path that might challenge your way of thinking and see because there is always some major lesson for your own journey. And last but not least, welcome the obstacles. Obstacles make us stronger, sharper and help to build our faith and trust in self when we overcome them.
